What is Rayon?

Rayon is a manufactured, regenerated cellulose fiber. It is made out of purified cellulose fibers that are taken from wood pulp, for the most part. It is chemically turned into a soluable compund. Substituents have replaced no more than 15% of the hydrogens of the hydroxyl groups. It was first commercially manufactured in the year 191 by Avtex Fibers Inc.
